Breast MRI
Breast MRI is a noninvasive imaging test that produces high-resolution, detailed images of the breasts and surrounding tissues. It is useful in detecting and staging breast cancer, and can often be used as an alternative to other types of breast imaging tests (mammogram and ultrasound).Read more :https://biomedscan.ro/opt-indicatii-pentru-rmn-san-cu-substanta-contrast/
An MRI technician or radiology technologist will perform your scan. A radiologist will interpret your results and offer medical advice.
The MRI procedure is comfortable and painless. You will be asked to change into a hospital gown and remove any metal objects that could interfere with the imaging, such as jewelry, eyeglasses, hearing aids, hairpins and removable dental work. You may also be given an intravenous line (IV) to receive a contrast dye. You will then lie on a padded table that has cushioned openings for your breasts. You will be able to hear tapping and thumping noises while the scanner takes pictures of your breasts. The exam typically takes 30 to 45 minutes.
Navigating Breast Health: Understanding the Significance of Breast MRI
Because breast MRI is so sensitive, it can sometimes pick up changes that aren’t cancerous, which is known as a false-positive result. This can increase the number of follow-up exams that are needed, including an extra mammogram and biopsy.
An MRI can help determine whether a tumor is confined to one area, or if it spreads beyond the original site (known as multicentric disease). This information can affect treatment options, such as whether surgery is recommended. At Lancaster Radiology Associates, we have a team of board-certified radiologists who specialize in breast imaging and intervention and are specially trained to use ultrafast dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI to detect and monitor disease.
